Carol Sinclair — Scottish Broker

Carol Sinclair

The broker for the Creative State’s 4CNW programme in Scotland is Carol Sinclair, adviser and trainer with the Cultural Enterprise Office. Carol has been working within the creative industries for the last 22 years, combining her own ceramics practice with her work as a business adviser, trainer and mentor. 

Initially with Business Gateway, Carol has worked with all types of businesses from start up to growth companies. Since 2005 she has focussed primarily on supporting creative businesses -  as a Director of Applied Arts Scotland, a specialist adviser for the Scottish Arts Council and a member of Creative and Cultural Skills Council employers groups. Carol has also managed a variety of independent projects including the creation and delivery of a Cultural Enterprise Office mentoring programme. 

Cultural Enterprise Office

Cultural Enterprise Office is Scotland’s specialist support and development service for creative micro-businesses and cultural practitioners.  It provides one to one advice, training, networking and information, tailored to meet the individual needs of clients. The organisation also runs two additional support programmes, Fashion Foundry – a business incubator and development programme for fashion and textile businesses, and Starter for 6 -Scotland’s premier start-up and investment programme for creative industry entrepreneurs.  It is this breadth of experience in delivering business support programmes that will be valuable for the role of Scottish broker.

Delivery  of the 4CNW Talent fund sits within the other programmes run by Cultural Enterprise Office and will enhance its work to provide business support for creative micro-businesses based in Scotland. 4CNW Talent will offer creative businesses an introduction to new types of customer and will support businesses to make effective use of creative thinking. In providing a brokerage service to participants we hope to make collaboration easier and demonstrate the value of creative thinking in business development.
